Lincoln's Gettysburg Address is one of the most beautiful prose poems in the English language. Use what you have learned about CSS and web typography in this module to create a treatment of this moving text.
As before, tag all the elements on the page. Write a simple style tag in the header to control the fonts on your page. Validate your code. Make the necessary corrections. Upload your files to your web server space and send the URL to me.
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to gain practical experience working with structured content and using HTML to express the structure.
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

Homework Assignments:
1. YOU MUST Bring in you recipe page for the class to use as part of their midterm site project, we're all sharing the content. Last class, you were to have a recipe page styled and a recipe site (3 pages) mocked up in illustrator, photoshop, or any way you're comfortable, ready-to-go... See Alicia's page for the best example of what WAS expected by last week. 2. A completely styled css page ready to go... 3. A wireframe (this will evolve) for your portfolio site, this will be due at the end of class and will be presented at your Mid-Point review as part of your Thesis Review. You can NOT graduate with an MFA without it!!! 4. Your Midterm is 2 projects... one is a demonstration library site of the projects we've done in class and you've spruced up. The second is the recipe site. The final is again 2 projects, a portfolio site of your work, mentioned in #3 above, and what i'm calling a demonstration library site, so not to confuse the portfolio assignment, but it is a portfolio of every class assignment we've done, from the color site to the box examples with the dots... here's an example from a previous student: bryan harris' demonstration library This was completed in week 13.
